Virtual Physical Therapy in Georgia — Licensed PTs, Anywhere in the State
NexStep PT provides physical therapy by secure video visit to patients anywhere in Georgia — from metro Atlanta to Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Athens and every county in between. You're treated one-on-one by a Georgia-licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, the same therapists who see patients at our Lawrenceville and Cumming clinics. No referral is needed to start. If you were hurt in a car accident, we work directly with your attorney so there is no upfront cost. Most patients are seen within two business days.
Your first visit is a full evaluation. Your therapist takes a detailed history, watches you move through specific tests on camera — range of motion, strength, balance, the movements that hurt — and asks the questions a hands-on exam would answer.

From that, you get a diagnosis, a plan, and your first exercises the same day. Follow-up visits are 30 minutes: your therapist checks your progress, corrects your form live, and advances the program.
What you need...
A phone, tablet or laptop with a camera; a space where you can stand, sit, and lie down with the camera able to see your whole body (a phone propped against a wall works); comfortable clothes; and a few minutes before the first visit to complete your intake in the patient portal we text you. No special equipment — we ship a hand crafted therapy toolkit to your door with anything you will need to perform your therapy.
Virtual visits work well for neck and back pain, whiplash and post-accident recovery, sciatica, most orthopedic and sports injuries, post-surgical rehab once your surgeon clears exercise, chronic pain, and balance and dizziness follow-ups. Your therapist will tell you if an in-person visit would help. Some patients do their evaluation in person at Lawrenceville or Cumming and their follow-ups from home.
What virtual PT treats well...
Who you'll see...
Dr. Brian Hoang, DPT and Dr. Daniel Tefft, DPT — both Georgia-licensed, both treating patients one-on-one at every visit. Read more about them on our About page.

Common questions about Virtual Physical Therapy
Is virtual physical therapy as effective as in person?
For the conditions listed above, yes — the research on telehealth PT shows outcomes comparable to in-person care for most musculoskeletal problems, because the active ingredient is the exercise program and the coaching, not the room. Where hands-on treatment matters, we'll say so and see you in person.
Can you evaluate me properly over video?
Yes. Movement, range of motion, strength, balance and the tests that reproduce your pain are all visible on camera, and your therapist asks the questions a hands-on exam would answer. If something can't be assessed remotely, we tell you and arrange an in-person visit.
Which parts of Georgia do you serve?
All of it. Virtual visits are available to any patient physically in Georgia at the time of the visit — metro Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Athens, the coast, the mountains, and every county in between.
Is it private and HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. Visits run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and your records live in the same clinical system we use in the clinic.
What if I was in a car accident?
Start with us right away — early treatment matters most in the first weeks. We treat on a personal injury lien, coordinate documentation with your attorney, and if your injury needs a hands-on exam we'll see you in person at Lawrenceville or Cumming.
How many visits will I need?
Each case is unique. Most patients start with 2-3 visits a week and taper as they improve. Your therapist gives you a specific plan after the evaluation and will monitor your progress along the way.
Can I mix virtual and in-person visits?
Yes, some patients do an in-person evaluation or manual therapy visit at Lawrenceville or Cumming, then follow-ups from home.
Do I need any exercise equipment?
We will send any equipment that you may need to perform all therapy recommended by your provider.
What if my video drops during a visit?
Your therapist calls you back by phone to finish the visit, and we reschedule any part that needs the camera.
How do I book?
Call or text 404-947-8851, or use the Request an Appointment button. Tell us "virtual" and we'll send the video link with your confirmation.
